Phulbani: In an effort to make women self-reliant, Kandhamal MP Dr. Achyuta Samanta has provided sweet potato processing machines to few women members of some Self-Help Groups (SHG) in Kandhamal district of Odisha on Saturday.
Earlier, in December last year the said women had undergone a training programme on Sweet Potato Processing and value chain.
“I never imagined that our own rural women SHG members could prepare such wonderful products from sweet potato, a tuber crop extremely rich of nutrition,” said Dr. Samanta.
With support from KISS Foundation, the women SHGs from a number of blocks in Kandhamal Parliamentary Constituency are all set to initiate their enterprises with the processing machines which have been provided today.
