Puri: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders, police arrested a peddler by raiding a house in Sangalei village under Pipili here today and seized bhang (cannabis) and ganja worth lakhs from his possession.
Acting upon a tip-off, a joint team of Puri Police’s special squad and Pipili Police carried out the raid at one Pradipta Kumar Upadhyay’s house and found around 25 kg bhang along with 55 kg ganja kept for future sale there. After seizing the banned drug the cops took Upadhay into custody.
Though Upadhyay is possessing a valid license for ganja business, the raid was conducted after an allegation of possessing it over the permissible limit, said police.
Further investigation is underway into the case.
