PV Sindhu nominated for ‘Padma Bhushan’ by Sports Ministry

PV SindhuNew Delhi: Olympic silver medallist shuttler PV Sindhu was nominated for the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by the Sports Ministry on Monday.

22-year-old Sindhu, who recently became the first Indian shuttler to clinch Korea Open Super Series title, is now the second athlete after cricketer and former Indian skipper MS Dhoni to be nominated for the Padma Bhushan award this year.

Last week, she had jumped two places to reach the second spot in the Badminton World Federation women’s singles rankings.

In 2015, Sindhu was accorded India’s fourth highest civilian honour,  Padma Shri, for her contribution in the field of sports.
