Pravat Biswal’s arrest: BJD accuses BJP of misusing CBI
KalingaTV News Network
Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD on Tuesday mounted a scathing attack on the BJP saying the latter is misusing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to settle political scores.
Claiming that its MLA Pravat Biswal was arrested as part of a political conspiracy, the BJD pointed to the statement of the National President of the saffron party Amit Shah during his last visit to the state in which he had threatened to send BJD leaders to jail.
Addressing newsmen at a press meet here this afternoon, senior leaders of the party Prasanna Acharya, Sasibhusan Behera, Maheswar Mohanty and Pratap Deb said the investigation by CBI into the chit fund scam in Odisha is conducted as per the orders of the BJP. They said the party would fight BJP politically.
Prior to the press conference, BJD boss and CM Naveen Patnaik had chaired a high-level meeting at his residence in the wake of the BJD MLA’s arrest, following which party Vice-President Debiprasad Mishra had informed that the party will not take any hasty decision against Biswal.
Political blame game between BJP and BJD has begun post the arrest of the Cuttack-Choudwar MLA, who was arrested late yesterday night by the CBI in connection with the Seashore chit fund case.
