Bhawanipatna: The newly formed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has geared-up to strengthen party base at booth level in the state.

OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik, while attending a felicitation programme organised by the Kalahandi district Congress today at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, informed that the base of the grand old party has become very weak across the state, but can be made strong and Odisha can develop only when Congress comes to power.

“As of now, our first priority is to strengthen and expand party base across Odisha because when we reviewed some of the recently concluded elections in the state, we came to know that Congress has become very weak. To strengthen the party is a big challenge for us now, but it is possible. It will become possible only when we come together and work together,” said Niranjan.

“Both BJP and BJD have neglected to work for the development of the state and its people. They have not kept their promises. Odisha cannot continue to remain as a poor state. We will work for the development of the state,” he added.

Adding to Patnaik’s statement, working president of OPCC and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi said, “We have begun to work tirelessly to strengthen the party at booth level, which, we hope we will be successfully doing it in the next three to four months.”

“We have decided to reach to the people at booth level. Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh will be coming to the state on a three-day tour starting from May 14. The party will also organise a huge morcha to speak to the people about the failure of both the state and union governments,” Majhi added.

Chairman of OPCC campaign committee Bhakta Charan Das, Convener of co-ordination Committee and former Minister Jagannath Pattanaik and several other leaders along with around two thousand party workers attended the felicitation ceremony.
