Bhubaneswar: Eminent cine critic and educationist of Odisha B Surya Pratap passed away here on Sunday at 9.30 PM. He was 66.
Surya Pratap died of heart attack at a city based private-run hospital. He was initially admitted to the hospital as he was suffering from urine infection. He was recovering well and was about to leave the hospital, but suffered a heart attack and stayed back. He breathed his last yesterday.
Surya Pratap was the pioneer of ‘Khati Culture’ in the capital city. Although he was not a journalist officially, but he was contemporary of many senior journalists in the state and also guided and motivated younger generation in the field of journalism.
Surya Pratap was one of the core group members of ‘Sun Times’ – Odisha’s first English Daily when it was conceptualized. He was also the main propagator of Film Society movement in Odisha.
