Orissa HC Bar Association launches cease work agitation against CBI probeCuttack: The Orissa High Court today issued show cause notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Odisha Government and Centre in connection with the trespassing by the investigating agency into the official quarters of the sitting High Court Judge Justice CR Das on Wednesday. The parties have been asked to submit their reply during the next hearing of the case on October 16.

The show cause notice was issued by the court after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by the High Court Bar Association on Wednesday. The PIL reportedly named Union Home Secretary, Director of CBI, IG and SP of CBI, Odisha Home Secretary, DGP, Twin City Police Commissioner, DCP of Cuttack, IIC of Cantonment Police Station and Registrar of High Court as the respondents to answer.

The High Court Bar Association, which was on a cease work stir over the issue since Wednesday, withdrew its stir today and decided to confirm on their next course of action following a meeting scheduled on October 19.

Notably, the CBI officials entered Justice CR Das’ house on September 19 during a probe in the graft case involving former chief Justice IM Quddusi. As the quarter was previously occupied by Quddusi, the investigative agency made a mistake.

The CBI has already refuted the trespassing allegation through a press release.
