Subarnapur: Launching a crackdown against drug peddlers in the district, police seized at least 40 kg of ganja after conducting a raid at Jhinki village under Subarnapur police limits on Thursday and arrested one person.
The held peddler has been identified as Mohan Meher of Jharsuguda district.
Subarnapur Police got a tip-off on the ganja consignment which was being transported to neighbouring Chhattisgarh from Boudh district in the morning. After laying a trap at Jhinki village a police team managed to intercept the Bolero carrying the assignment and seized it. It took the driver of the vehicle into custody after finding the ganja sack following a search.
The accused has been forwarded to court.
