Delhi visitBhubaneswar: Talk of a change in the OPCC leadership gathered fresh momentum on Sunday with three senior leaders of Odisha Congress Narasingha Mishra, Niranjan Patnaik and Ananta Sethi leaving for Delhi.

Talking to reporters just ahead of boarding his plane to Delhi, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Narasingha Mishra claimed that he had not received any invitation from the AICC for a meeting and his visit is private in nature. Replying to another question on whether his visit to Delhi was intended at preparing the ground for the new OPCC leadership, Mishra said such things don’t happen in politics.

Congress heavyweight Nirajan Patnaik also rejected outright any political meeting during his Delhi visit and said he would move to Chandigarh from Delhi to attend a private event.

However, the view of Anant Sethi was poles apart from the other two leaders of the Congress. He was all praise for Niranjan, Sethi claiming that he was the lone saviour for the Congress in the state at the moment. Batting for Niranjan as the new OPCC president, Sethi said it’s already late and the Congress high command should immediately take a call on the issue. Nearly 80 to 90 percent members in the party support Niranjan, he added.
