116 temporary docs join duty as VIMSAR PG students’ cease work enters 4th dayBurla: The 116 junior doctors rushed by the state government yesterday to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) to restore normal health services in the premier referral hospital in western Odisha, joined duty on Wednesday.

Soon after reporting for duty at 10 AM, the junior doctors started treating the indoor patients. The state government has appointed them in the medical college and hospital on a temporary basis.

On the other hand, the cease work agitation by PG students’ entered on fourth day today. Despite the state government’s request to call off their agitation, they continued with their strike to press their demand for removal of VIMSAR director Aswini Kumar Pujahari. Health Minister Pratap Jena had yesterday asked them to call off their strike first before having discussions with him.

Meanwhile, the people of Attabria town in Bargarh districtobserved a 6-hour bandh in the town on Wednesday in support of Pujahari.
