Balasore: At least 10 cows were burnt alive after a deadly fire erupted in the Markosha Bazar Sahi under Simulia Police Station area in the district last night.
Sparks flared up in one local Dibakar Behera’s cattle-shed in the village, late in the night while all the family members were asleep. They came to know about the fire after some villagers raised an alarm hearing the screams of the cattle engulfed in fire.
Though people tried to douse the fire on their own initially, at least 10 cows had already been charred to death till then.
Bhadrak Fire Brigade teams brought the flames under control reaching the spot and prevented the fire from spreading to other houses in the locality.
While the exact cause behind the fire is yet to be known, Simulia Police have started an investigation reaching the village.
