With 78,610 infections, UK reports highest ever daily Covid cases
London: With 78,610 infections, the United Kingdom (UK) on Wednesday recorded its highest daily coronavirus cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.
According to a senior British health chief, 78,610 COVID-19 infections were reported in the last 24 hours. This is about 10,000 more than the previous high reported in January.
With the detection of 78,610 new cases, more than 11 million people out of a total population of around 67 million have now tested positive for the deadly virus in the United Kingdom.
While more than 10,000 cases of Omicron have been recorded in the country so far but only 10 people have been hospitalised. One person has died after contracting the Omicron variant.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned of a “tidal wave” of infections and asked the countrymen to take precautions.
