73 killed in twin bomb blasts near general Qasem Soleimani’s tomb in Iran

73 people were killed in two bomb blasts near the tomb of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his assassination.

Iran: Nearly 73 people were killed in two bomb blasts near the tomb of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his assassination by the US.

Reportedly, 171 people were injured when the blasts hit a procession near the Saheb al-Zaman mosque in the southern city of Kerman. The blasts was called to be a terrorist attack. Following the incident, the video of the blast has been circulating over the internet.

According to reports, hundreds of people were walking towards the tomb on Wednesday as part of a ceremony to commemorate general Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike in neighbouring Iraq in 2020.

Qasem Soleimani was seen as the most powerful figure in Iran after the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Soleimani was in charge of the Quds Force’s clandestine missions and its provision of guidance, funding, weapons, intelligence, and logistical support to allied governments and armed groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah.

He was assassinated in 2020 by US after receiving order of the then President, Donald Trump.
