CM flags off visit of 20 school students to ISRO

Young Astronomer Talent Search 2017 organised by Tate Steel

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Monday, flagged off a delegation of 20 school students from different districts in Odisha to Space Application Centre, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Ahmedabad. The visit is part of the Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) Programme organised by Tata Steel every year.

Two students each from Ganjam and Jajpur district have been selected while one student each from Balangir, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Jagatsingpur, Kandhamal, Angul, Bargarh, Balasore, Subarnapur, Koraput and Keonjhar will be part of the prestigious programme.

An annual event, the YATS Programme is conducted to identify young talents with an interest in astronomy and expose them to India’s space programme through visits to various space establishments in the country..
