Berhampur: A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws over dowry at Podamari village under Patapur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district late on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhasini Sahu. Her father Radhakrushna Sahu has lodged a complaint with the police that his daughter has been murdered by her in-laws over dowry demand.
In his complaint, Sahu said he was informed by Prabhasini’s in-laws that she has been admitted to Berhampur’s MKCG Medical College and Hospital last evening due to illness.
However, on reaching the hospital, he was told that his daughter was declared dead by the doctors.
Meanwhile, a probe has been initiated into the incident. Police said the reason behind the woman’s death can be ascertained only after post-mortem.
