Odisha: Cyclone JAWAD To Make Landfall Between Puri-Berhampur, Heavy Rains From Dec 3

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains have been predicted in Odisha due to the upcoming cyclone JAWAD that is expected to make landfall soon.

According to the latest report of the Regional Meteorological Center situated here in Bhubaneswar, heavy rain is likely to occur from December 3.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall in-between Puri and Berhampur.

Three districts in Odisha, namely: Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri have been kept on high alert.

Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has advised the district Collectors to stay alert.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of south coastal Odisha.

A warning also has been issued for the fishermen.

They have been asked not to venture into the sea for fishing as squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 50.60 kmph gusting upto 70 kmph likely over west central Bay of Bengal from December 2.

It is to be noted that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a low pressure area is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Under the impact of the system, Odisha will witness rainfall from December 3 onwards. On December 4, moderate to very heavy rains are predicted in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
