Odisha Celebrates 72nd Republic Day, Governor Hosts Tricolor

Bhubaneswar:  Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Odisha is geared up to celebrate the 72nd Republic Day with less public participation.

Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal unfurled the Tricolour in the State Capital and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

A woman IPS officer of 2018 batch, Kesinga SDPO S Susree lead the State-level Republic Day parade in the Capital city Bhubaneswar.

As per the guidelines issued by the state government, no students, NCC cadets or the general public will be allowed to take part in the Republic Day celebrations this year.

Only police contingents will be allowed to participate in the Republic Day celebrations.

For smooth conduct of the event around 25 platoon forces have been deployed and the Gandhi marg has been sealed till 3 PM.

Ministers and district collectors unfurled the national flag at various district-level Republic Day celebrations across the state.

Tight security arrangements were made across the state, especially in the Maoist affected districts.
