Cuttack: After Niali, Bhanjanagar and Jagatsinghpur, sheep were killed by unidentified animals in Athagarh area of Cuttack district and Betanati area in Mayurbhanj districts too.
According to reports, four sheep of Sisir Behera of Talasahi village under Tigiria block near Athagarh were killed by the mysterious killer late on Tuesday night. The killing of the domestic animals bore striking resemblance to the way over 200 sheep have been killed in Niali area of Cuttack district over the last two months.
Behera also alleged that four other lambs have gone missing since last night.
On being informed, forest officials rushed to the spot. After preliminary investigation, they said there was nothing to worry claiming that it was the work of a fox like animal which might have come from a nearby forest.
A similar incident also occurred at Aguada gaon in Betanati area of Mayurbhanj district.
The wild animals killed four sheep in the village terrorizing the locals.
Forest officials visited the spot after receiving a call from the villagers and examined the pug marks of the animal after seizing the carcasses of the sheep. They also urged the people not to panic and advised them to keep their sheep in a proper enclosure where the animal cannot enter.
