Commissionerate Police Proposes Special Crime Investigation Wing
Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police have planned to set up a special crime investigation wing to deal with cases of organised crime and drugs smuggling.
Police commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that the wing will be headed by an officer in the ranks of DIG. “As many as 30 police personnel will be the members of the wing. We have sent a proposal in this regard to the state government for approval,” said Sarangi.
Commissionerate police have currently two dedicated wings to deal with organised crimes. While the Quick Action Team (QAT) is functioning to detect organized crimes such as drug peddling, flesh trade and extortion, the Special Squad also investigates organized crimes.
