Bear electrocuted to death as poachers lay trap for wild boar in Odisha’s Boudh district

Boudh: The corpse of a wild bear was found in the Rathakandi Reserve Forest area under Manamunda Forest range of Boudh district in Odisha on Monday. The wild bear was reportedly electrocuted to death.

As per reports, the wild bear came in contact with an electric wire as poachers had laid a trap to catch wild boar. The incident took place in Ratakhandi reserve forest area. The bear’s corpse was found by some officials of the Electricity Department yesterday night and they had informed it to the Forest Department. The forest department’s officials reached the scene while further investigation is underway.

It is to be noted that animal poaching has become rampant in the area. With the help of these traps, elephants have also regularly been killed for their tusks.
