6 killed, over 30 injured as tourist bus overturns in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a tourist bus overturned at Kalinga Ghat near Durgaprasad village under Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district of Odisha in which six people have lost their lives as well as more than 30 people have been injured.

Reportedly, the tourist bus was en route to Vishakhapatnam via Bhanjanagar from Daringbadi in Kandhamal, carrying more than 70 passengers, when the tyre of the vehicle lost balance over the wheels and it overturned near Kalinga Ghat.

On getting the information, Bhanjanagar police as well as firefighters along with the Tikabali fire personnel department arrived at the spot and carried out rescue operations.

All the injured were rescued and admitted to Bhanjanagar Hospital for immediate medical treatment. One of the injured lost life while undergoing treatment.

Whereas, five others people were killed as they were crushed under the bus.

It has been learnt that all the passengers were from Sultanpur village under Udaynarayanpur Subdivision of Haora district in West Bengal. They traveled to Daringbadi in Kandhamal by the tourist bus.

Adding to it, most of the injured are women and children, added reports. Bhanjanagar police has initiated an investigation into the accident.
