30 injured, 1 critical in head-on collision between passenger bus-truck

Jajpur: At least 30 persons were hurt and one woman among them turned critical later in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a tomato-laden truck on NH-5 near Khairi under Badchana police limits in Jajpur district today.

As per the report, the mishap took place in the wee hours at around 5 AM while the truck carrying passengers from Kolkata was heading to Cuttack. Driver of the tomato laden truck which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting the bus from the front causing serious damage to it and inflicting injuries on the passengers on board.

All the 30 passengers who sustained injuries in the incident were rushed to Badchana hospital by police and fire brigade teams. A woman passenger was later shifted to Cuttack due to critical condition.

Police have seized the mangled vehicles involved in the accident and started investigation.
