Sambalpur: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injuries after a bike they were travelling on was hit by a Hyva near Amalipani area on National Highway-55 under Jujumura police limits in Sambalpur district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Nilu Sahoo (25) of Balianta area of Khordha district.
As per the report, Nilu along with a friend namely Sonu Barik (24) was heading to Bhubaneswar from Sambalpur when the crash took place. The driver of the Hyva which was travelling in the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting the bike.
While some bystanders rushed the victim duo a nearby hospital for treatment Nilu succumbed there under treatment. Sonu’s condition is critical and he is under treatment.
Police have seized the mangled bike and launched a probe to trace the absconding Hyva driver.
