IND vs SA: India win toss, opt to bat against South Africa in World cup 2023 match

In today's IND vs SA match of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023, India has won the toss and has opted to bowl against South Africa.

In a much anticipated match of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka has won the toss and has opted to bowl against India. Today’s IND vs SL clash is taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Both India and South Africa have been doing exceptionally well in the ongoing World Cup 2023 tournament. So far, India has won all of its seven matches played, qualifying for the semi finals. On the other hand, South Africa has lost only one of the seven matches it has played.

Till date, India and South Africa and India have played 90 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against each other. In the last Ind vs SA encounter in October 2022, India won by seven wickets. In World Cup history, South Africa won three out of five matches against India. In 2011, India lost by three wickets. However in 2015 and 2019, India won by 130 runs and six wickets, respectively.

Coming to the pitch conditions for Ind vs SA match, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata is a famous cricket ground with a pitch that favours both batsmen and bowlers. It has black soil, giving good bounce to the batsmen. Spinners also do well here. India’s highest score (404/5 against Sri Lanka) and their lowest defended score (195/10 against South Africa) happened.
