6th day of Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018

Spain to face France; New Zealand to challenge Argentina

Bhubaneswar: Pool A returns to World Cup action with two matches scheduled today. The first encounter will start at 5 pm; while the second at 7 pm. Both of the matches will be held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. They will be telecast on Start Sports Network and Doordarshan.

In the first face-off, France is set to meet the Spaniard challenge. The former is ranked at 20, while the latter at 8 in world rankings.

Spain is currently on the 3rd spot in Pool A while the French team is at the bottom 4th place. A win for any of the teams will give them a better chance to stay in contention for the crossover matches as Argentina are expected to qualify straight to the quarters from this pool.

In the second encounter heavy-weight, New Zealand faces Argentina. The former holds rank 6, while the latter is 4th ranked as per current world rankings.

It is a crucial match for both teams as a win here would increase their probability of heading straight to the quarterfinals by topping Pool A. The Lions start as favorites, but the spirited New Zealanders are known to cause big upsets.
