Two jawans injured in IED blast in Boudh, later airlifted

Boudh: Two Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans were injured in IED blast laid by Maoist activists exploded during a combing operation at Balamtuma area under Kantamal police limits of Boudh district on Thursday.

The blast took place when the SOG jawans were conducting a combing operation inside the forest this morning when they noticed some movements of the Maoists cadres in the area. There was an exchange of fire between the maoists and the jawans. Following which the SOG jawans were injured.

The injured jawans were initially admitted to Kantamal Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir as their condition deteriorated. The two seriously injured jawans have been airlifted to Bhubaneswar for better medical facilities, informed Operations ADG S Debadutta Singh.
