Sundergarh tragic accident: CM Naveen Patnaik announces ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep grief over the death of five people in a road accident at Telendihi Chhak in Sundergarh district today and announced ex-gratia.

Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family of Bagichapada and Masjidpada villages.

The Chief Minister ordered to provide free medical treatment of the injured persons and wished them a speedy recovery..

It is to be noted here that the tragic incident took place after Hyva truck hit an auto-rickshaw this afternoon. Following the collision, both the vehicles flung into air and fell on a paddy field, which is 20-ft below the road.

A rescue operation was carried out and the two injured persons were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for Sundergarh for medical aid. However, the driver of the Hyva truck managed to flee from the spot.

Sundergarh Sadar police has started an investigation into the matter.
