Nabarangpur: In a shocking incident, at least one person was killed after a love bird attempted to commit suicide in Nakatisemada village under Raighar block of Nabarangpur district last night.
The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
As per the report, one Haldas Gand of Nakatisemada village was in love with a girl of the same village for past few months. While the couple wanted to tie the knot a few days back, both their families opposed the relationship.
Remaining under immense mental pressure over the non-acceptance of their relationship the couple decided to end their lives last night and consumed pesticide.
While the girl died on the spot under the influence of the pesticide, Haldas was rescued in critical condition by his family and rushed to Raighar Primary Health Centre.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident after seizing the body.
