Former Additional Tahasildar Laxman Dalei and ex ASI of Police Rabindra Kumar Tripathy convicted in vigilance trap cases
They were identified as Laxman Dalei, former Additional Tahasildar (retired), Sadar, Dhenkanal and Rabindra Kumar Tripathy, the former ASI of Police (retired), Thakurgarh PS of Angul district.
Dhenkanal/Angul: As many as two government functionaries have been convicted today in two separate vigilance trap cases in Odisha. They were identified as Laxman Dalei, former Additional Tahasildar (retired), Sadar, Dhenkanal and Rabindra Kumar Tripathy, the former ASI of Police (retired), Thakurgarh PS of Angul district.
According to reports, Laxman Dalei, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.1 dt.18.01.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act,2018 for demanding and taking bribe Rs 30,000 from a complainant to allow his Truck carrying laterite stone from Indupur mines quarry to Athagarh, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs 50,000.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Laxman Dalei from service following his conviction.
Bhagyalata Pradhan, Inspector, Vigilance, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Hemanta Kumar Khatua, Special P.P, Vigilance, Dhenkanal conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
Likewise, Rabindra Kumar Tripathy, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and taking bribe Rs 10,000 from a complainant to release his seized motor cycle, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Rabindra Kumar Tripathy from service following his conviction.
Goutam Kumar Mallick, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Chandrakanta Das, Addl. P.P, Vigilance, Angul conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
