Chanchal Rana, Kirandeep Kaur Sahota appointed as Commissioners of BMC, CMC respectively
The BJP government led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi has executed one of its most sweeping bureaucratic overhauls since assuming power this time.

Bhubaneswar/ Cuttack: Odisha Government effected a major IAS reshuffle on Tuesday. Accordingly, Chanchal Rana was appointed as the commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Similarly, Kirandeep Kaur Sahota was appointed as Commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

2014 batch IAS officer Chanchal Rana was the Collector and District Magistrate of Puri, from where he was appointed as the BMC Commissioner.
Importantly, this post of Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation is declared equivalent in status and responsibility to the post of Joint Secretary provided in the IAS Cadre of the State.
Similary, 2021 batch IAS officer Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, who was working as the Sub-Collector, Gunupur in Rayagada district was appointed as the Commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation. She had been appointed as the Gunupur Sub-Collector in June 2025, while still undergoing district training.
Kirandeep Kaur Sahota holds a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
The post of Commissioner, Cuttack Municipal Corporation is declared equivalent in status and responsibility to the post of Deputy Secretary provided in the IAS Cadre of the State.
