CBI arrests Senior Social Security Assistant of EPFO Regional Office for taking bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths arrested the EPFO SSSA on churches of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.
Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested Anil Rath, the Senior Social Security Assistant (SSSA) of EPFO Regional Office in Berhampur.
The CBI sleuths arrested the EPFO SSSA on churches of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.
It was alleged that the accused EPFO official was taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant to approve the Authorized Signatory Application of the employer, i.e. private company, on the EPFO Portal.
After negotiation the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. However, the central agency laid a trap and caught him red-handed while taking the bribe money from the complainant at a hotel situated in Lanjipalli area of Berhampur yesterday.
Further investigation is continuing.
