19 baby monocellate cobras hatch from eggs in Odisha’s Puri district

A snake helpline member had rescued a monocellate cobra (Tampa Naga snake) earlier that had laid eggs

Kakatpur: At least 19 baby monocellate cobras have hatched from eggs in the Puri district of Odisha, found on Friday. The incident took place in Kakatpur area.

As per reports, a few days ago, a monocellate cobra (Tampa sapa) snake had been rescued by Snake Helpline member Braj Kishore Sahu. Knowing that it was pregnant, he had kept it safely in a plastic jar.

After 2 days, the snake laid 19 eggs. After laying the eggs, Braj Bandhu released the snake into the forest. After incubating the eggs for about 60 days, now 19 baby snakes hatched from them.

These baby snakes look beautiful but they are venomous and so pose  danger for humans. They have been carefully removed from the plastic jar container.

The snake helpline member said that they will be safely released into the forest in Konark area.
