New Delhi: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty visits New Delhi’s Akhshardham temple on Sunday morning to offer their prayers. Sunak, who is in Delhi to attend the G20 Summit, had expressed his desire to visit a temple during his stay in the national capital.

During a media interaction on Friday, Sunak called himself a ‘Proud Hindu.’ The couple spent about an hour at the temple, and security arrangements around the temple were heightened for their visit, with several police officials deployed in the area.

A senior police officer mentioned that security measures were already in place due to the ongoing G20 Summit, and additional security personnel were deployed for the UK prime minister’s visit.

Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty arrived in Delhi on Friday to participate in the two-day G20 Summit, which began on Saturday. They received a warm welcome from Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey upon their arrival. As a token of hospitality, they were presented with Rudraksh beads, a copy of the Bhagavad Geeta, and a Hanuman Chalisa.

On Sunday morning, many foreign dignitaries will visit the Rajghat, including leaders from Spain, Indonesia and other countries, to pay their tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
