At least 15 people have been taken into custody as a part of a NIA operation against an Islamic State (ISIS) terror for conspiracy.

New Delhi: At least 15 people have been taken into custody as a part of a National Investigation Agency (NIA) operation against an Islamic State (ISIS) terror for conspiracy. The arrests, linked to ISIS, were made in Pune during raids by NIA at 41 locations across Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The NIA teams conducted raids in Karnataka and various areas in Maharashtra, including Pune, Thane Rural, Thane City, and Mira Bhayandar.

The NIA revealed a more extensive conspiracy with international connections and the involvement of foreign-based ISIS handlers. The investigation exposed a complex network dedicated to spreading ISIS’s extremist ideology within India.

The network had pledged allegiance (Bayath) to the self-styled Khalifa (leader) of ISIS and was discovered to be engaged in manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). They aimed to carry out acts of terrorism in India.
