Gen Next ‘Train 20’ To Replace Rajdhani Express In 2020: Indian Railways

New Delhi: After the successful launch of Train 18, the Indian Railways is planning to introduce the generation next sleeper class Train 20 in the country. As per latest reports, the super high speed train is expected to replace Rajdhani Express in 2020.

The high-speed train is being planned as a part of the ‘Make in India’ programme. Alike Train 18, Train 20 will also be developed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. For the first time in the history of Indian Railways, aluminium will be used for the manufacture of train coaches.

Touted to become one of the country’s fastest trains, Train 20 will be a fully air-conditioned train. Driven by a self-propulsion module, it is expected to run at a speed of 160 kmph.

The high speed train will sport CCTV cameras, diffused lighting, automatic doors and footsteps, besides a GPS-based passenger information system.
