Cricketer-turned-politician Ambati Rayudu quits YSRCP after 8 days of joining

Cricketer-turned-politician Ambati Rayudu announced his decision of quitting YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh: In recent news, cricketer-turned-politician Ambati Rayudu announced his decision of quitting YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) on Saturday. This comes mere eight days after he joined the party.

Rayudu took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to share his decision. He wrote, “I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time.”

The announcement has left Andhra Pradesh’s YSRCP members and followers in shock.

Earlier on December 28, 2023, Rayudu joined the YSRCP in the presence of YRS Congress President, Andhra Pradesh CM, Deputy CM Narayanswamy, and MP Midhun Reddy. Notably, he joined the party two days after Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a 450-day sports festival ‘Adudham Andhra.’

It is noteworthy mentioning that Rayudu was appointed as the brand ambassador for the sports festival. Despite which, he was not seen taking part in the events.

Back in June 2023, Ambati Rayudu has announced his entry into politics.

On the cricket front, Rayudu has played a total of 55 ODIs for India. With a total of 1693 runs in his bucket, Rayudu holds three centuries and 10 half centuries in ODI matches on his name. Due to his skilful playing, he is considered as one of the most successful players in the history of Indian Cricket.
