Covid Vaccination Drive To Remain Closed In Gujarat & Mumbai Due To Cyclone Tauktae

New Delhi: In view of cyclone Tauktae, the Covid vaccination drive in Gujarat and Mumbai shall be suspended till May 19 and on May 17 respectively.

Cyclone Tauktae over east central Arabian Sea is expected to intensify further in the next 24 hours and move north- northwestwards to reach the Gujarat coast on the evening of May 17.

Similarly, the Mumbai civic body announced on Sunday to keep its COVID-19 vaccination drive suspended for the third day on May 17. Earier on Friday the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had on Friday announced that there would be no inoculation on May 15 and 16 considering the India Meteorological Department’s cyclone warning.

The cyclonic storm “Tauktae” has further intensified into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) at 000 UTC and lay centered at 18.5N/71.5E, with a ragged eye, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD).
