BJP’s Kakatpur MLA candidate Rabi Mallick attacked

Puri: Amidst the campaign fever for the upcoming fourth phase poll in the State, BJP’s MLA candidate from Kakatpur constituency Rabi Mallick was detained and attacked by a group of miscreants here last night.

Mallick was returning home after chairing a convention of party workers in Srirampur village when the attack took place. A group of unidentified men detained him for quite some time and thrashed over unknown reason.

Kakatpur Police rushed to the spot and rescued Mallick from the spot.

Later, the MLA candidate lodged a case with police in connection with the case.

Notably, Mallick had been elected as an MLA from Kakatpur in BJD ticket in 2009. However, he resigned from the primary membership of the party and quit as a State Planning Board member on April 5 this year to join BJP. He had alleged injustice over selection of BJD nominee for Kakatpur seat.
