4.2 magnitude earthquake hits Bay of Bengal; No Tsunami alert issued yet

An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude struck Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, informed National Center of Seismology. The tremors were felt at 5:32 am.

New Delhi: An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude struck Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, informed National Center of Seismology. The tremors were felt at 5:32 am.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located at latitude 8.55 degrees North and longitude 90.93 degrees east. The tremors originated at around 10 km below the ground.

Informing about the seismic event, the National Center of Seismology tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.2, Occurred on 07-11-2023, 05:32:24 IST, Lat: 8.55 & Long: 90.93, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Bay of Bengal.”

No tsunami alert has been issued yet.

Earlier, earthquake tremors felt in Delhi NCR following a 5.6 magnitude in Ritcher scale earthquake hit Nepal on Monday afternoon. On Friday, nearly 128 people died and over 140 were injured after a strong earthquake of 6.4-magnitude hit Nepal. Tremors were also felt in Delhi NCR and Northern part of India.
