Google Employee Salaries Leak, Software Engineers get Rs 5.90 cr Base Salary

A recent leak of Google employee salaries has revealed that the tech giant pays its employees a high amount, making it one of the top-paying tech companies. The leaked data from 2022 shows that Google employees earned a median total compensation of $279,802 (approximately Rs 2.30 crore in India when converted).

An internal spreadsheet shared among Google employees disclosed the company’s pay scale for various positions. Among them, software engineers emerged as the top earners, with a maximum base salary of $718,000 in 2022. The leaked data encompasses information from over 12,000 US workers and includes roles such as software engineers, business analysts, and salespeople.

The compensation structure at Google also includes stock options and bonuses, augmenting the base salaries. For instance, software engineers had the potential to earn up to $1.5 million in equity in 2022.

The list of the top 10 highest base salaries at Google for 2022 includes Software Engineer (Rs 5.90 crore), Engineering Manager (Rs 3.28 crore), Enterprise Direct Sales (Rs 3.09 crore), Legal Corporate Counsel (Rs 2.62 crore), Sales Strategy (Rs 2.62 crore), and UX Design (Rs 2.58 crore), among others.

However, it’s crucial to note that the leaked data is specific to full-time employees in the US and doesn’t encompass salaries from Alphabet’s other ventures. Additionally, the information is based on responses from a limited number of employees who were comfortable sharing their equity and bonus details.

According to data collected by MyLogIQ and analyzed by The Wall Street Journal, Google’s parent company, Alphabet, secured the third spot on the list of top-paying companies in 2022, with an average salary of USD 280,000, while Meta ranked second with a median salary of USD 300,000.
