Baghel, Gehlot, Kamal Nath sworn-in as CMs; Farm loan waived off in MP

Raipur/Jaipur/Bhopal: Congress legislature party leader Bhupesh Baghel was sworn-in as the new chief minister of Chhattisgarh this evening.

Governor Anandi Ben Patel administered the oath of office to Baghel at the ceremony held at an indoor stadium in Raipur.

Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra attended the swearing-in of Bhupesh Baghel.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to thank the people of Chhattisgarh for giving the party to mandate to serve them.

 

Earlier on the day, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot sworn in as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan at a ceremony in Jaipur. Sachin Pilot took oath as Deputy Chief Minister.

Governor Kalyan Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to both the leaders in the ceremony organised before the historic Albert Hall.

In Madhya Pradesh, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath was sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of the state.

The nine-time Chhindwara Lok Sabha MP was administered the oath of office by Governor Anandiben Patel at the Jamboree Maidan in Bhopal.

In his first act after taking charge as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Nath cleared the proposal of waiving farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh as promised by the Congress during its poll campaign.

The swearing-in ceremonies in Jaipur, Raipur and Bhopal are being seen as a platform to showcase the Opposition unity ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2019. Among those present in Bhopal are former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
