Puri: Noted sand artist Manas Sahoo created a sand sculpture to create awareness among people on the occasion of “World Cancer Day” on Sunday. Sahoo erected the sand art at Baliapanda beach, Puri with the help of his students.

It took them around seven hours to complete the sand art. Sahoo and his students used 15 tonnes of sand to build the 10-feet sand sculpture.

In the sand art, they inscribed a message on leading a healthy life by conquering the deadly disease. It read “conquering cancer with will power”.

“We should not consume tobacco as it leads to cancer. Once we fall prey to the dreaded sickness, it is extremely difficult to get cured. However, we should fight courageously. We have created the sand sculpture to raise awareness and reduce stigma of cancer,” said Sahoo while speaking to Kalinga TV.

The “World Cancer Day” is an international day marked on February 4 every year to raise awareness on cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
