Cuttack: Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh on Sunday informed that dreaded gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant, who were arrested on January 29, 2016 in connection with kidnap and murder of sharpshooter Dipu Mallick, are running their extortion racket from jail. Singh informed this after the arrest of one of Dhalasamant’s henchmen.
Holding a press conference here after the arrest of prime accused – Mrutyunjay Nayak alias Miku – in Bijan Pal firing case, Singh said that the Dhalasamant duo is running their crime syndicate being behind the bars in Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar.
The DCP informed that Nayak was acting on the instructions of Dhalasamant brothers. He even had fired at Pal with an intention of killing him on the direction of Sushant Dhalsamant. Sushant had asked Miku to eliminate Bijay Pal after he denied to pay extortion.
Notably, miscreants had fired at Pal in Subhadrapur under Sadar police limits on February 23 this year. However, he managed to escape the attack. The Commissionerate Police had initiated an investigation into the crime and arrested the prime accused this afternoon. Cops also seized two pistols, 29 rounds of live bullets and other incriminating objects from Mrutyunjay Nayak’s possession.
