ECoR Denies Trial Run On Haridaspur- Paradip Route

Tower Car For Inspection Runs On The Section Today

Kendrapara: East Coast Railway (ECoR) today denied reports of a trial run on Haridaspur- Paradip route. Railway officials said that a tower car used for inspection and maintenance of overhead electric transmission equipment on electrified routes was rolled out on the track.

The clarification of the ECoR came after a section of media reported trial run on the route which assumes significance for Kendrapara as the district is yet to have railway connectivity.

Railway officials said that they are hopeful of completion of the project by December this year. “The 82-km project will be helpful for commuters in districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur. The work has been expedited and we are hopeful of completing the project by December,” said a railway official.

Former Railway Minister Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone of the project near Marshaghai in Kendrapara district in April 1999. The Railway Minister then had promised to complete the construction of the railway line by 2004. The project, however, missed several deadlines due to delay in the construction of bridges.
