Youth duped by fake police on pretext of job in Angul, accused arrested

The Angul town police arrested a fake police for duping a youth on the pretext of job. He had allegedly taken Rs 24,000 in three installments

Angul: The Angul Sadar Police nabbed a fraudster posing as a police official. He had allegedly duped a youth by identifying as a police.

The arrested fraud has been identified as Biranchi Narayan Naik of Kunjam village under Khamar police limits. He had alleged duped Rs 50,000 hard cash.

One motorcycle, hard cash of Rs 50,000, stamp, fake ID card and uniform were seized from his possession.

According to reports, one Mantu Sahu of Kankrei village was working under a contractor in Panchamahal. He met the fraudster there who identified himself as Assistant Sub-inspector. He also showed him a photo of himself in the uniform.

He trapped Mantu into paying him the money by luring him of giving him a job in the Talcher mines. Mantu paid him Rs 24,000 in three installments. However, after getting the money, Biranchi avoided him.

Mantu later got to know about the fraudster and lodged a complaint in the Sadar police station. Police started investigation on the basis of the complaint and nabbed the accused. He has been court forwarded.

In another incident, on March 24, a fake Police DSP was nabbed by Saheed Nagar Police in the capital city of Odisha. He had allegedly defrauded many innocent people by giving false identity as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Police uniform, fake currency notes and fake appointment letters were seized from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Manas Ranjan Senapati.

As per reports, when Police personnel were doing night blocking checking they detained a youth after observing suspicious activities. As they dug in the matter, it was found that the youth has defrauded many job aspirants by giving them false assurance posing himself as the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
