Piyush Goyal to present Union Budget in Parliament today

New Delhi: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will present the interim Budget in Parliament on Friday. It will be the sixth and final Budget of Narendra Modi government, before the Lok Sabha elections due by May.

Official sources said the Budget documents will contain revenue and expenditure projections for the entire 2019-20 fiscal year beginning April 1, but a ‘Vote on Account’ will seek Parliament nod for the expenditure side.

The Modi government is likely to announce several welfare measures for various sections of society, sources added .

Analysts say the Finance Minister may announce massive relief for farmers and small industries who are still feeling the aftershocks of demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The farm loan waiver may reach up to Rs. 1 lakh crore, according to some reports. The Modi government is also likely to waive off premium on crop insurance.
