Madhya Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a woman alleged that her husband and two others drugged her with momos, sexually assaulted her and then abandoned her on the Sagar Kanpur National Highway in Chhatarpur district.
According to the reports, locals found the woman lying near a railway overbridge in a semi-conscious state with her hands and feet tied. They immediately informed Civil Lines police who then took her to Sagar district hospital for treatment.
After regaining consciousness, the woman told police that her husband had taken her to the market and offered her momos. Soon after eating them, she fainted.
She alleged that while she was unconscious, her husband and two other men sexually assaulted her and kept her confined for some time. They later dumped her on the roadside.
Further, she also warned that if strict action was not taken, she would end her life and hold the police responsible.
The police confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under charges of sexual assault, criminal conspiracy and wrongful confinement. A search operation is underway to arrest the men.
Investigators further stated that the woman has been married to the prime suspect since 2014. They also mentioned that she had previously filed several complaints of sexual assault and physical violence at different police stations in Damoh, Badamalhara, Gulganj, and Bijawar.
In an earlier case, she had accused her village sarpanch and secretary of sexual assault which was later settled through compromise.
Police are currently verifying her statements and collecting medical as well as other evidence to move forward with the investigation.
