Washington: The U.S. State Department on Thursday (Friday as per IST) announced that it would pay as much as $1 million for information leading to the whereabouts of Hamza bin Laden, the son of Osama bin Laden.
Hamza is seen as an emerging face of terrorism. While he is assumed to be about 30 years now, there is no publicly released latest picture of his.
The location of Hamza bin Laden sometimes dubbed the “crown prince of jihad,” has been the subject of speculation for years with reports of him living in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria or under house arrest in Iran.
Letters seized at the compound where Osama bin Laden was hunted down have indicated he was grooming Hamza bin Laden to take over leadership of Al Qaeda, according to the U.S. Department.
The younger Bin Laden is said to be married to the daughter of 9/11 mastermind Mohammed Atta.
In 2011, US Special Forces killed Osama Bin Laden in a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He approved the attacks on the US on 11 September 2001, in which nearly 3,000 people were killed.
