Influencer’s bike stunt in restricted zone of Pangong Lake in Ladakh Goes Wrong, Police step In
A YouTuber was arrested by the Leh Police after he found to be performing deadly bike stunts in a restricted area in Pangong Lake.
A popular YouTuber has been apprehended by the Leh police for performing bike stunts in ecologically sensitive and restricted areas near Pangong Lake and the Nubra Valley dunes in Ladakh.
The individual, identified as Ali Aalyan Iqbal, came to spotlight after posting photos and videos of his high speed bike stunts on Instagram. In the visuals, Iqbal is seen riding superbikes, including a Suzuki Hayabusa and a Kawasaki Ninja across the fragile terrain, including sand dunes, where one of his bike got stuck, kicking up clouds of dust. He has 2.74 million subscribers on YouTube and 428k followers on Instagram.
The Police took action under the newly effectuated Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ( BNS) 2023, registering as case against Iqbal under sections 125 and 292. Section 125 addresses acts that endanger life or the personal safety of other, while section 292 deals with public nuisance not covered under other laws.
In a statement posted on the official X ( formerly Twitter ) account, Leh police wrote: “ A domestic tourist was booked U/S 125 and 292 of BNS 2023 for dangerously riding a bike in restricted zones of Pangong Lake and Nubra sand dunes, endangering Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem ”.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of protecting Ladakh’s delicate environment and have urged all tourists to follow local rules and respect the region’s ecological balance.
Iqbal is well known for his content focusing on biking and bodybuilding, but his recent action have triggered criticism over the growing issue of irresponsible tourism in environmentally sensitive regions.
Officials said further investigation is afoot, and strict actions will be taken against those violating ecological protection norms.
Earlier, a couple from Jaipur was fined and made upto pay Rs50,000 for driving their Toyota Fortuner SUV on the sand dunes in Hunder, Nubra valley. At that time, the local police had asked tourists not to drive on the dunes, as it harms the natural environment and goes against the rules in place.
