Heartwarming video of elephant calf panicking after getting separated from mother goes viral
An elephant calf from Kaziranga National Park was separated from its mother. Video of foresters uniting it with its mother has gone viral
In a heartwarming incident from the Kaziranga National Park of Assam, a baby elephant can be seen rushing to humans after it got separated from its mother.
The video was shared by retired Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda. As the video opens the calf runs towards the camera panicking.
It then circles then goes back, comes again suggesting that it is confused and is panicking as it got separated from its mother.
The forest officials guided the baby elephant into the forest and united it with its mother. One of the officials can be seen smearing the dung of the mother elephant on the baby’s trunk and legs.
The most heart felt moment in the video comes when the calf lets out a soft trumpet sound as a gesture of thank you. One of the officer then encourages him by saying, “Haan, jaa, jaa jaa.” The mother and the calf then happily walk back into the woods.
The video was posted with the caption, “Chotu got separated from mother at Kaziranga. It was united later with its mother. The forest officials applied mother’s dung to the calf to suppress human smell. Happy reunion at the end.”
The video won hearts on the Internet with many sharing their thoughts in the comments box. One user wrote, “Ole baba, so damn cute he is. I was supremely lucky to have grown up near Kaziranga. Had a black panther in our lawn (tea estate, Lokhojan) for days. Those days were special. Thank you God, for placing me in the lap of nature, albeit temporarily. Lots of elephants in Numaligarh too.”
